Morley performed the structural concrete for this 25-story luxury condominium tower along Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. The building features 78 and two- and three-bedroom condominium homes over four levels of subterranean parking for 274 cars.
A “waterproof” concrete approach using the concrete additive Kryton was used for the mat foundation and below-grade shotcrete walls, which required the project team to carefully control the concrete’s temperature and slump content, as well as place and finish in suitable reaction times. Foundations were completed in four pours, the ground floor was broken into three areas of work, and decks were poured on a seven-day cycle and turned over complete within 10 days of pour. Cantilevered formwork was required to address the building’s natural curve and post-tensioned elevated slab construction.
