Morley Construction Company provided concrete subcontracting services for the Otay Mesa Land Port of Entry project, a modernization and expansion of the existing California-Mexico border facilities. To address the increasing amount of border traffic, the project will double processing capability for pedestrians and add additional truck lanes for the Otay Mesa import facility. The project includes constructing new tenant agency buildings, transferring the hazardous materials importation process from the export facility to the import facility, renovating existing office spaces, and constructing a new employee parking structure. Once complete, the project will provide the port with adequate operational space, reduced traffic congestion, and a more efficient layout for port operations and the traveling public.
Morley’s structural concrete scope of work consists of six buildings; new construction of the Commercial Annex Building, USDA Plant Inspection Building, HazMat Inspection Building, FMCSA Office Building, two-story parking structure, and renovation of the Main Primary Inspection Building. The project is targeting LEED Gold certification.
