MCAS Miramar F-35 Maintenance Hangar & Support Structures

MCAS Miramar F-35 Maintenance Hangar & Support Structures

The Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar F-35 Maintenance Hangar project consisted of construction of a new state-of-the-art facility to house two squadrons of F-35 next-generation Marine fighter aircraft, as well as ancillary support buildings.

Morley Construction Company provided concrete subcontracting services for the project, which included a 158,000-square-foot Type I 12-bay aircraft maintenance hangar with two stories of shop and administration areas. The scope consisted of CMU walls on a pile foundation with structural steel framing, slab-on-metal-deck at Level 2, and steel roof trusses with a pre-finished insulated metal roof. Morley’s scope also extended to the Ready Service Magazine building, FLEDS building, LOX Structure, JSF Miscellaneous Building, and a site retaining wall.
