UCSD Pharmaceutical Sciences Building

UCSD Pharmaceutical Sciences Building

This 145,000-square-foot facility on the UCSD campus houses the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. It consists of administrative offices, classrooms, a clinical pharmacy, treatment rooms, and laboratories for research in bioinformatics, pharmaceutical chemistry, biological sciences, and high-intensity computational studies. It also includes a 31,000-square-foot subterranean auditorium.

Morley Construction Company provided concrete subcontracting services for the project, which required 8,149 cubic yards of concrete, 112,500 square feet of formed slab, and 23,000 square feet of grade slab for five structural steel academic levels. The building features exposed as-cast concrete with tie-hole pattens accented by wood, steel, and precast concrete. Morley built formwork with virtually no concrete seepage for exposed concrete edges and 90-degree corners.
