North District Phase I is a 546,000-square-foot living-learning community featuring 416 apartment-style units in two buildings, providing 1,500 beds for upper-division undergraduate, transfer, and graduate students. Building A is a five-story, Type III over Type I and four-story, Type V structure totaling 325,000 square feet. Building B consists of a four-story, Type V; four-story Type III over Type I; and five-story Type III structure totaling 221,000 square feet. Each building includes one-, two-, and four-bedroom units. Amenities include private and group study areas, student lounges with game room, fitness center, music room, computer lab, business center, resident services office, laundry facilities, and outdoor terrace. The project achieved LEED Gold certification and is the campus’ first all-electric student housing project.
Morley Construction Company provided the structural concrete for the project, totaling 9,281 cubic yards. Scope of work included foundations, slab-on-grade, columns, and elevated decks.
