Morley performed the cast-in-place structural concrete for the inpatient tower and outpatient building at LAC+USC hospital complex. The flagship Los Angeles County health care facility was set into a hillside requiring construction of a massive architectural concrete retaining wall structure, over 1,000 feet long, up to 40 feet tall and ranging from 12” to 24” thick.
The project features linear accelerators with concrete-encased lead and steel shielding, subterranean secured entry structures, prisoner treatment facilities, a main loading dock, as well as patient treatment, surgical, food service and other facilities required of any major regional public health care facility.
